Several years after she was fully matured Ness wanted to learn to expand her gifts as her mother had. Bella helped her as much as she could, but eventually they went to Kate, who was delighted with her new role as teacher.She started by learning to project more than just memories, starting by planting images she’d imagined into people’s minds and quickly progressed to being able to block out other senses and immersing her target in the experience fully. It took almost four years before she could duplicate this process without contact. But she did it, except with Bella. She needed to touch her mother to penetrate her defences; she tried to act like this didn’t bother her. But she’d always loved being the exception to her mother’s gift, Edward kept her disappointment secret.She is now capable of invading the visual and audio perceptions of her target. However, this requires her full attention and she cannot fight or defend herself while immersed in this ability. She can however, project her personal memories and remain aware of her surroundings.
She still can’t control her ability in her sleep; she never had the desire to. Anyone who touches her while she’s dreaming can see into her head. Jacob often found himself co-starring in Ness’s vivid imaginings. He found it “Creepy!” seeing himself through her eyes while they engage in intimate scenarios.
